There are no wires, monthly subscription or uploading form a computer. This is great for keeping an eye on friends or family member’s weather in other states or countries and you can set various cities as your favorites.

A wireless weather forecaster is ideal for anyone interested in the weather or perhaps if you don’t have the time to check on the latest weather report. A quick glance at the readings and you’ll be fully up to date with the current and future temperatures for your area.

I purchased the La Crosse Technology WS-8035U-IT-SAL Wireless Weather Station with Remote Temperature and Humidity Gauge (Pictured right).

I bought it from Amazon.com and it works brilliantly and has all the weather information you could possibly need, displayed on a large LCD screen. The time is atomically precise and also includes the date, the moon phase, indoor and outdoor temperatures, humidity, barometric pressure with an increase/decrease reading. It also lets you know what the highest and lowest readings were throughout the day and night.

The forecast setting is displayed using icons. A sun to indicate the weather is improving, a cloud to indicate the weather is remaining fairly constant and clouds with rain symbol to indicate deterioration in the weather.
I highly recommend the La Crosse wireless weather forecaster and it has been going strong for over 11 months now.

If you are looking for a 3 to 7 day forecaster then I highly recommend the WeatherCast 5-Day Wireless Weather Forecaster. It looks great and receives free accuweather forecasts for 152 US cities.

It has a 3 inch square LCD display and comes with a magnetic back to attach to a fridge if required. It also has a stand so can be placed pretty much anywhere!

Thermometer Hygrometer – Now You Can Predict The Weather!

A Thermometer Hygrometer is a scientific instrument used to measure the temperature and the relative humidity of the surrounding air.

Basically the temperature reading tells you the current air temperature, whilst the humidity reading will give you an indication of how the weather is likely to change in the next few hours.

The hygrometer will show a reading that relates to how humid the surrounding air is. This can be very beneficial in places where humidity needs to be controlled, such as museums, green houses, saunas and industrial buildings. It can also be used to good effect in places where you might have mold or mildew problems. The hygrometer will let you know if it is a problem with the air humidity.

But for the majority of us, the thermometer hygrometer is purely an interesting devise that we can study from our homes. When I was a little boy my Grandmother used to have an old fashion barometer, (which measures air pressure) on her wall, and I would always be checking which direction the readings were going and therefore act as the weather authority for the house!

With today’s advanced weather forecasts there isn’t much call for these type of weather instruments to be relied upon, but it is a great way to understand about how the weather changes and can be an exciting learning experience for school kids.

Although I don’t own one of these products yet, I have read many reviews of modern thermometer hygrometers and the majority of them speak very highly of these latest models. They seem to be very accurate and reliable.

The Honeywell TM005X Wireless Indoor/Outdoor Thermo-Hygrometer seems to be a particular favorite and has over 100 positive reviews over at Amazon.com.

It can measure temperature and humidity up to 100 meters away and can be used both indoors and outdoors. The large display screen makes it nice and easy to read too!

Outdoor Galileo Thermometer

A Galileo thermometer has become a very attractive and eye-catching feature in people’s homes. It is a rare collision of art and science working beautifully together. Although usually seen indoors, you can also get an outdoor Galileo thermometer that has been adapted.

The thermometer is actually quite a simple and fairly accurate reading of the current temperature, whether it is indoors or out. If you’re not sure how the physics of the thermometer works, there is a good description here, which describes how it operates using Galileo’s 400 year old relative density principles. Basically by using changing water temperatures and the density of floating, colored, glass balls to reflect a temperature reading.

The balls are usually colored from blues and greens to represent colder temperatures and reds and oranges to represent warmer ones and most designs contain around 10 or 11 of them.

As you would imagine the fact that the thermometer is made from hand blown glass and contains water it would need to be kept indoors and in a safe place where it won’t get knocked over and broken.

Fortunately there are designs now that enable a Galileo thermometer to be hung outdoors and it looks great over the patio, porch, decking or garden area.

The thermometer is made of much stronger outer glass and is housed in a strong metal cage to prevent it from breaking if it fell or anything hit it or because of debris from strong winds etc.
These thermometers are brightly colored and so look very attractive and stylish outdoors as well as in.

As I’ve mentioned they are quite accurate and from a 55° F to 100° F range they should give temperature readings within just 5°.

I have mine hanging from an old hanging basket bracket round the back of the house and everyone enjoys looking at it and checking the temperature. Sure it’s used primarily as a decorative feature than an accurate temperature guide, but it is the unique working functionality, just like the outdoor clock and thermometer, that gives it its undoubted appeal.
